Get StartedrightUnder the uncertain times of the COVID-19 pandemic, operators are seeking options to proactively protect their customers, operators, and the food they are serving without the expense of changing their entire food protection system.
The most popular requests have been for height extensions and closing off self-service food guards.
Requests for new products are specifically geared toward convertible food shields, that is, having a product that can be used as an attendant-served protector, with the capability of being changed to a self-service food shield in the future.
The GCH Adjustable Angle Clamp
The GCH adjustable angle clamp in combination with a panel of 1/4" thick glass or acrylic closes the front opening of a self-service food shield by tucking the vertical panel behind the angled panel. This effectively converts an existing self-service food shield into an attendant-served
protector.
Modifying Self-Service Operation to Restrict Access
The GCH Adjustable Angle Clamp in combination with a panel of 1/4" thick glass or acrylic closes the front opening of a self-service food shield by tucking the vertical panel behind the angled panel. This effectively converts an existing self-service food shield into an attendant-served protector.
Features and Benefits of this product include:
- No change to existing food shield glass or hardware.
- GCH clamp will connect to existing angled glass panels (1/4” or 3/8” thick) with heavy-duty, nylon-tipped stainless steel set screws.
- GCH clamp adjusts to provide a closed barrier, no matter the angle of the existing glass panel.
- Operator can choose to use ¼” thick clear acrylic or tempered glass for the vertical barrier.
- New hanging vertical panel does not require holes.
- No holes required in the counter top surface.
- The clamps and panels are easily removable when no longer required.
Convertible Food Shields (Attendant-served to Self-Serve Conversion)
The VG20 Convertible Model is a 6-Position Convertible Food Protector that can be used for either attendant-service or self-service. This is a competitively priced convertible option. This product stays semi-permanently in attendant-service or self-service mode.
The product ships from the factory in the configuration of your choice, and can be readily re-configured when required.
Height Extension to Existing Food Protection
Versa-Gard has developed hardware to allow the attachment of vertical extension panels to existing Versa-Gard models – VG15-SK, VG3-SK, VP1, and VP24 models. The extension panels for these products that have an existing top shelf can be applied to any Versa-Gard model with a shelf panel.
The solution can be obtained by utilizing the following options:
- Simple addition of hardware and a ¼” clear tempered glass panel to obtain vertical protection to 72” above the finished floor. The hardware is designed so it can be easily added to the existing unit, and then easily removed to return the product back to its original design.
- Replace existing glass panels with new, taller panels, and storing original panels for re-use at some time in the future.
VG3-SK Model – Adjustable Self-serve Food Protector
Illustrated with new replacement front panels – extended to bring the top edge of glass to 72” above finished floor. This option would require storage of the original panels in the event the unit is to be used in its original configuration at some point in the future.
VG3-SK Model – Adjustable Self-serve Food Protector
Illustrated with original front self-serve angled panels and the addition of extension panels and hardware that attach to the existing shelf support hardware to bring the top edge of glass to 72” above finished floor. This option allows for top extension glass panels and hardware to be removed at some point in the future, allowing the unit to be restored to its original configuration.
VG15-SK Model - 4 position Convertible Protector
Illustrated with original front convertible panels and the addition of extension panels and hardware that attach to the existing shelf support hardware to bring the top edge of glass to 72” above finished floor. This base product can be fully closed to be used as an attendant-served protector or may be positioned so it may be used for self-service. This option allows for top extension glass panels and hardware to be removed at some point in the future, allowing the unit to be restored to its original configuration.
VP1 - Full Service Protector
Illustrated with original front vertical panels. Extension panels and hardware are added that attach to the existing shelf support hardware to bring the top edge of glass to 72” above finished floor. This option allows for top extension glass panels and hardware to be removed at some point in the future, allowing the unit to be restored to its original configuration.
VP1 - Full Service Protector
Illustrated with new replacement front vertical panels – extended to bring the top edge of glass to 72” above finished floor. This option would require storage of the original panels in the event the unit is to be used in its original configuration at some point in the future.

Illustrated with original front vertical panels. Extension panels and hardware are added that attach to the top edge of the original panels. Extension glass panels bring the top edge of vertical glass to 72” above finished floor.
This option projects the extension panel both forward and down by ¼” in both directions. The extension panel sits in front of the original panel, and the leading edge sits ¼” below the edge of the original panel. This is to ensure gap-free protection for the operator. This option allows for top extension glass panels and hardware to be removed at some point in the future, allowing the unit to be restored to its original configuration.
VP24 - Vertical Protector
Illustrated with new replacement front vertical panels – extended to bring the top edge of glass to 72” above finished floor.
